
A LATAM Brasil Airbus A320 was evacuated at Guarulhos International Airport due to a fire in the baggage handling vehicle. The fire occurred on the PR-MHR registered Airbus A320, which was scheduled to operate flight LA3418 from São Paulo/Guarulhos to Porto Alegre. Passengers were evacuated using the emergency slides and taken to a safe area.

LATAM issued the following statement regarding the incident:
“LATAM Airlines Brasil reported that during flight LA3418 (São Paulo/Guarulhos–Porto Alegre), a fire broke out in the baggage handling equipment operated by a third-party company responsible for loading. The smoke caused by the equipment triggered safety protocols. Passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft by trained personnel. There were no injuries, and the situation was quickly brought under control. LATAM is providing all necessary assistance to the affected passengers and will rebook them on other flights. The company emphasizes that safety is always at the core of all its operations.”
